Still in the intro mood... ;)
I've been using the nickname "Sydneyrini" for almost 8 years now. It started out when I registered in an online Indonesian forum and had to choose a nickname. I was living in Sydney at the time and Rini is a part of my surname. Incorporating those two words sounded cute, hence the nickname.
But please don't call me Rini, because I'm not used to it - no offense to all Rini out there.Anyway, this entry isn't about my surname. But about the city I used to live in. Yes, Sydney! I was smitten with it the first time I set foot in the city. It was in 1996, I was on a family holiday. And I remember writing down in my journal how I dreamed of someday moving there. And it came true!
My 4-year-stay was unforgettable. I love the weather - the heat was bearable in the summer and it's not that cold in the winter. I love the transportation, how the schedule's well-organized. And I love the fact that I can walk around the city feeling safe - something you can't find in my current town. And the food, oooh the food!
Huge yummylicious pancakes at the Rocks after a big meal of mouth-watering ribs. Late supper at the super crowded Chinese resto, Superbowl. Those late nights munching the famous Harry's meat pie topped with mushy green pea and gravy while standing at the street of Wooloomoolo looking at city lights.
Oh I miss that city. I will someday return.
