I Have a Thing for Art. Visual Art.

Oh my? Was my last entry really dated three months ago? >.<
I'm really sorry, dear readers. I tried to write regularly, but turned out being a blogger's not that easy. I contemplated a lot whenever I was going to write. And I ended up not posting anything. My apology for that. Will do try to be a better blogger.

Anyway, while browsing I found this blog by this super cool artist that made me wish that I could draw. His name is Danny Robert. I came across his works when doing my daily read on fashion blogs. Here's one of his recent works that he put up on his blog.

Cool huh? He also made a collaboration with Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers. I thought of buying the tote when I was in the US. But somehow I didn't.

Another cool artist whose works I admire is Vera Brosgol. I knew her from my brother, who is also an artist - a 3D artist to be exact. I particularly love this work of Vera's, as I'm a cat person.

I know where my fondness for visual art come from. When I was little, I loved watching my brother draw. He's so talented that I used to bring his work to school and my friends were flocking to admire it. Some even asked me to ask my brother to draw something for them.

What about you, dear readers? Do you have any favorite visual artist? Would you care to share it with me?

Mid Year Getaway

Yes, I'm on vacation right now... What I love from vacation is that there's many good spots for photography.. I'm not a professional photographer though, but I love taking pictures.

Check out this one below, taken in front of Louis Vuitton boutique in Union Square, San Francisco. Love love love the display. Might go back there again, to take more pictures...

Shake That Polaroid Picture!

I had been in a bad mood since yesterday (not sure why, should I blame it on the hormones? or maybe I was just bored?) until I found remedy in blogwalking and landed in bryanboy's world. And from one of his posts, I discovered this cool software called poladroid which converts your photos to digital polaroids.

I was excited that I installed the software right away and converted heaps of photos ever since.

Here' some of them (taken in Melbourne Zoo, during my 5-day-trip in April with my beloved Panasonic Lumix FX38).

My nearly narcissistic photo ;P

Aren't they adorable??

And this one is an old photo from my family holiday in Bangkok.

And yep, you guessed it right! I'm the little girl in yellow tee. Doesn't my Dad look ultra cool in this photo? :)

You can download the software here (they've got both Mac and Windows installer!)

That Second Skin

As they resurrected their way back to fashion in '06, I thought the era of the leggings ended along with the year and won't be back at least for a decade. But that notion was wrong.

After they disappeared for a while (at least from my sight) , it crept its way back to fashionista's wardrobe recently. But this time, instead of being plain colored or with a touch of a bit of lace at the end, it came back with a twist!

The most popular would be wet look leggings which looks like leather. I guess the one responsible for making it ubiquitous would be Rihanna.

But it didn't stop there. There's also printed leggings, which doesn't really suit to my liking. But who knows, maybe I might change my mind someday and eventually wear them? In fact, after looking at the picture below, I started to be somewhat interested in getting one. Hmm...

And there's also denim leggings, which is my current obsession. While looking for a pair of skinny jeans last weekend in Topshop last weekend, my mother got these leggings instead.

This is a good alternative to those who fancy skinny jeans but want to give their leg a break from that tightness. I was going to buy one too, actually. But I already fell in love with this skinny jeans and couldn't resist in purchasing them Hence I was broke and got to hold that idea until payday arrives. *sigh

Toss the Feathers

Please excuse me for being such a bad blogger for my last entry being posted more than a month ago. Not that I'm busy, but sometimes I've got so many things on my mind that I find it hard to choose which one I should share.

Anyway, I've got an upcoming gig this Sunday, and as usual a week before the gig I start to brainstorm the ideas to find the right style to match with the occasion. As for this gig, I'm particularly looking for feather headpiece.

I started browsing and found these cute headbands on Urban Outfitter website that I think will match my desired style perfectly.

Unfortunately they're not available in Indonesia :( So I searched for other options and went to Forever 21 website. And, I found this!

I'm going to check whether it's available or not in Grand Indo's Forever 21 tomorrow. I really hope it is..

But, in case I couldn't find any headpiece that match my desire, I might try this really cool do-it-yourself feather headpiece tutorial I stumbled upon on youtube. Can't wait for tomorrow!

What's Sydneyrini Been Up To?

One of my new found favorite past time would be playing around with polvyore!

What's polyvore, some of you might wonder. As I quote, "Polyvore is a free, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching images from anywhere on the web. It is also a vibrant community of creative and stylish people. "

Hmph, not sure if I fall into those two categories: creative or stylish. But anyway, here are some of my attempts to fit in.
Subtle
I wonder if Rihanna would wear 'em? I would be very flattered.

Sweet in Black
All black can be sweet, can't it?

Slouchy Chic

Awh, those pants look so comfy... I want one!

I guess three sets should be enough - I'll leave you curious and crave for more so you would go here to check out more of my "work" (insert evil laugh here).

Why Sydneyrini?

Still in the intro mood... ;)

I've been using the nickname "Sydneyrini" for almost 8 years now. It started out when I registered in an online Indonesian forum and had to choose a nickname. I was living in Sydney at the time and Rini is a part of my surname. Incorporating those two words sounded cute, hence the nickname. But please don't call me Rini, because I'm not used to it - no offense to all Rini out there.

Anyway, this entry isn't about my surname. But about the city I used to live in. Yes, Sydney! I was smitten with it the first time I set foot in the city. It was in 1996, I was on a family holiday. And I remember writing down in my journal how I dreamed of someday moving there. And it came true!

My 4-year-stay was unforgettable. I love the weather - the heat was bearable in the summer and it's not that cold in the winter. I love the transportation, how the schedule's well-organized. And I love the fact that I can walk around the city feeling safe - something you can't find in my current town. And the food, oooh the food!

Huge yummylicious pancakes at the Rocks after a big meal of mouth-watering ribs. Late supper at the super crowded Chinese resto, Superbowl. Those late nights munching the famous Harry's meat pie topped with mushy green pea and gravy while standing at the street of Wooloomoolo looking at city lights.

Oh I miss that city. I will someday return.

My Introduction

After months of blogwalking, finally I decided to make a blog of my own. Well, I actually had some before, but this time it's gonna be more focused.

Focused on what, you might wonder. As the blog title clearly states, it will be about things that I adore. Things that I like. Things that brighten my gloomy day, things that inspire me. My favorite things - just like the song from The Sound of Music. And it can be anything; from fashion to food, music to movies, kitties to puppies, books to magazines, anything!

Let's get started, shall we?
